We want to position farmers of color to be ready for new opportunities that will arise, and to provide them with the necessary skills and capabilities to build and sustain successful farm enterprises now and in the future.

Application Guidance for 2021-2022
Thank you all for your collaboration and support. With your help we were able to effectively distribute roughly $30,000 dollars in funds to beginning farmers of color in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
About the Stipend
Stipend Purposes
Stipend requests can range between a minimum of $500 to $1000 per farm business.SNEFCC seeks to make stipends available for the following purposes:
- Purchase of inputs such as seeds, compost, soil amendments, mulch, equipment rental, small equipment purchases, materials for integrated pest management.
- To offset producer costs associated with conservation practices, land preparation, land leasing, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Assistance beyond the types mentioned above that are relevant to pivoting the business due to COVID-19.---Ineligible Expenses
- Land purchase
- Large equipment purchases that cost over $1000
- Payroll for employees
- Compensation for applicant’s labor
- Reimbursement for past expenditures
Distribution Process
- SNEFCC seeks to announce awards by mid-February and no later than March 2nd.
- As soon as the recipient is an approved entity for payment, our administrative partner will initiate payment in full to the recipient. This process can take up to 4 weeks.Recipients must use their stipend within 12 months of receipt.
